Acts -- Errors 726-730

#726

Acts 13: (KJV)

42 “And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.”

Regarding “the Gentiles besought” the manuscript evidence is “they were begging” (no subject for the verb). Translation variation here, “people”, “Gentiles”, etc. is a sure sign of scribal change.

# 727

Acts 13: (KJV)

44 “And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.”

Regarding “the word of God.” which a majority of moderns use the manuscript evidence is “the word of the Lord.”

# 728

Acts 13: (KJV)

47 “For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.
48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.”

13:47 is an acceptable quote of Isaiah but “salvation” in Isaiah is explained as the prospering of a people through Natural means, through the natural life cycle. The descendents of the Nation will prosper. “Eternal life” to an individual is a Christian concept and is not supported by the context of Isaiah.

# 729

Acts 13: (KJV)

52 “And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.”

No “the” before holy spirit here in the Greek which almost all moderns use. The, the, the, thet’s theology folks!

# 730

Acts 14: (KJV)

2 “But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren.”

The underlying Greek word that KJV has mistranslated as “evil” above is probably best translated as “irritated”. Check out how the Evil and Wicked modern Christian translations have also mistranslated in order to blasphemy the Good and Righteous “Jews”: (Mel Gibson would be proud)
