Acts -- Errors 712-718
#712
Acts 12: (KJV)
23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he
gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.
No accounts outside of Acts, like Josephus, say that Agrippa was eaten
of worms.
# 713
Acts 12: (KJV)
25 And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had
fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark.
The manuscript evidence indicates it should be And Barnabas and
Saul returned to Jerusalem. A majority of moderns have the same
from as KJV.
# 714
Acts 13: (KJV)
6 And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found
a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus:
7 Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent
man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of
God.
8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood
them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.
Still waiting for a reasonable explanation as to how Barjesus
translates or means Elymas. The Greek author is once again
unfamiliar with Semitic names.
# 715
Acts 13: (KJV)
9 Then Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit,
looked straight at Elymas and said,
No the.
# 716
Acts 13: (KJV)
23 Of this man's seed hath God according to his promise raised
unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:
Apparently Paul didnt believe in The Virgin Birth. More
evidence that The Virgin Birth was added to Luke
after it was originally written.
# 717
Acts 13: (KJV)
27 For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because
they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every
sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.
The Prophets were primarily interested in the Law and not some supposed
Messiah and when they do mention the Messiah its always a prediction
of a leader for the Jewish people. To conclude that the Prophets predicted
that Jerusalem and the Jewish leaders would condemn the Messiah could
only have been written by an outsider to Judaism who didnt speak
a Semitic language (Hebrew or Aramaic) and in turn could only be believed
by like Semitic linguistic challenged hearers. Hence, Judaism and Israel,
No Jesus. Non-Judaism and non-Israel, yes Jesus.
# 718
Acts 13: (KJV)
27 For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because
they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every
sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.
28 And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate
that he should be slain.
29 And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took
him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre.
More ignoring of the real prophecies regarding the Messiah who would lead
the Jews against the non-Jews and reference to imaginary prophecies regarding
a Messiah who would lead the non-Jews against the Jews. Happy Eostre!
