Luke -- Errors 411-417
#411
Luke 20: (KJV)
41 And he said unto them, How say they that Christ is David's
son?
Compare to Mark 12: (KJV)
35 And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple,
How say the scribes that Christ is the son of David?
Lukes Jesus had just finished talking about seven brides for seven
brothers. Marks Jesus had just finished talking about loving your
neighbor. Put them together and you will love your neighbors wife?
# 412
Luke 20: (KJV)
41 And he said unto them, How say they that Christ is David's
son?
Compare to Mark 12: (KJV)
35 And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple,
How say the scribes that Christ is the son of David?
Lukes Jesus is talking to the scribes. Marks Jesus is talking
about the scribes.
# 413
Luke 20: (KJV)
43 Till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
Compare to Mark 12: (KJV)
36
till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
KJV has mistranslated Mark above which should read, till I put thy
enemies under thy
feet in order to make Luke and Mark agree.
The phrases could have the same meaning but the underlying Greek is different
and, as the Prophet said, This aint no party, this aint
no disco, this aint no fooling around.
# 414
Luke 20: (KJV)
45 Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples,
46 Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love
greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and
the chief rooms at feasts;
Compare to Matthew 23: (KJV)
1 Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,
2 Saying The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:
Same places in the narratives, different openings.
# 415
Luke 21: (KJV)
1 And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts
into the treasury.
2 And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.
Compare to Mark 12: (KJV)
41 And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the
people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.
42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which
make a farthing.
Lukes Jesus glances up and notices a scene, while Marks Jesus
sits down and studies. Predictably, the Jews get worse press
in subsequent versions. Mark has the wealthy Jews making generous contributions,
Luke deletes the generous part and Matthew cant bear the thought
of the Jews making any contributions.
# 416
Luke 21: (KJV)
5 And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly
stones and gifts, he said,
Compare to Mark 13: (KJV)
1 And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith
unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here!
Lukes Jesus is still in the Temple while Marks Jesus has left
the building.
# 417
Luke 21: (KJV)
6 As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in
the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not
be thrown down.
False prophecy. The Reader should ask herself which has disappeared without
a trace, the Temple or Jesus?
